A Roadmap for the Future.

Defining why Maine is so well positioned for Offshore Wind.

For the past 18 months, Blaze has been working closely with Maine’s Governor's Energy Office (GEO) and Consensus Building Institute (CBI) in the development of the Maine Offshore Wind Roadmap. The Roadmap will serve as a strategic economic development plan for the Maine offshore wind industry.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Offshore wind presents a generational economic and energy opportunity for Maine. As an abundant source of clean, renewable energy, offshore wind has the potential to help free Maine from its over-reliance on fossil fuels, lower energy costs, and curb climate-altering emissions to protect the environment. Offshore wind is also slated for significant growth in the coming years, which will support existing and emerging Maine companies, create new jobs and career opportunities for Maine people, attract new workers and families to Maine, and deliver infrastructure investments in communities across the state.

WHAT WE DID

Our work began with the development of the Maine Offshore Wind Initiative website and brand identity. This involved clearly defining why Maine is so well positioned for Offshore Wind, an overview of the Roadmap, and identification of the players involved. As a testament to our work, this past August, GEO asked Blaze to lead the Strategy and Project Management of the Offshore Wind Roadmap (expected release date is January 2023). The is inclusive of a designed Roadmap document (~100 pages), factsheets, PowerPoints, 2-3 min video, photography, and an updated website with key contents from the Roadmap. Blaze was really excited to bring life to such an important initiative in the state of Maine.

THE RESULT

The output of the Roadmap is based on 96 Working Group and Advisory Committee Members, over 75 public meetings to date, 50+ technical studies and 1,372 unique participants. The Roadmap will act as a guiding force on how best to implement Offshore Wind off the coast of Maine.
